Acceptable Identification

The New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB) requires valid, government-issued photo identification as part of the certification process to verify the identity of applicants. The following is a list of commonly accepted forms of photo identification:

1. Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license issued by any U.S. state or territory.
2. State Identification Card: A valid non-driver’s ID card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) of any U.S. state or territory.
3. U.S. Passport: A valid U.S. passport or U.S. passport card.
4. Military ID or NYS DMNA ID: A current military identification card for active duty, reserve, organized militia or retired personnel.
5. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card): A valid permanent resident card issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
6. Employment Authorization Document (EAD): A valid EAD card issued by USCIS.
7. Naturalization Certificate: A certificate of naturalization with photo.
8. Tribal Identification Card: A valid tribal ID card issued by a federally recognized tribe.

For any form of identification to be acceptable, it must be current (not expired) and include a photograph of the applicant, the applicant’s name and the issuing authority’s name.
